St. George of England
I gave a talk on St. George`s Day on "St. George of England".
The talk was to the Good Companions, who meet at the church hall of St. James the Greater Church, across the road from Victoria Park in Leicester.
The subject of the talk was the patron saint of England himself, and what we know of him; the history of observance of our saint`s day, compared with those of Ireland, Scotland and Wales; and other events, births and deaths that occurred on St. George`s Day.
It went down very well, and I will be very pleased to give this talk to other goups when it gets near to the relevant day next year.
And if you don`t actually know, St. George`s Day falls on 23rd April.
