Ray East Entertains Cricket Society
A recent Leicestershire Cricket Society meeting that I attended (I try not to miss any) at Grace Road in Leicester had as its speaker Ray East.
A member of the Essex team from 1965 to 1984, Ray was a noted slow left arm bowler who was no mean batsman. He is best remembered however for his antics on the field.
Ray kept the members in stitches with his reminiscences and memories of well known players.
During the break, I was able to point out to Ray that the last time I spoke to him was when we were both waiting anxiously at the maternity hospital at Lexden in Colchester for new arrivals. Our children are now 31!
It was a great evening. Thanks, Ray.
