Leicester`s History Talk
I recently gave a talk for the friendship group in a Leicester church.
The group was at Christ the King at Beaumont Leys, close to the suburban shopping centre on the edge of the city.
The talk this time was "Leicester`s Place in English History", in which I seek to show that all the major events and periods in the story of England over the last two thousand years have had a Leicester connection.
Stretching back to the Roman period, the talk involved such people as Simon de Montfort, John of Gaunt, Geoffrey Chaucer, Richard III, Cardinal Wolsey, Lady Jane Grey, Charles I and Thomas Cook.
I am happy to give this talk, or any other of the others in my repertoire, for other groups.
