Excellent Weekend in Nottingham
My wife Anne and I recently enjoyed an excellent weekend in Nottingham.
It was one of the regional weekends organised by the Group Travel Organisers Association (GTOA), and was based at the Park Inn.
Before checking in at the hotel on the Friday, I visited the Galleries of Justice, and took part in an informative guided tour of this historic attraction.
On the Saturday, we all went into the City Centre by coach, and were led on a Guided Walk by "Robin Hood". Actually, I didn`t experience all of this, as after a coffee break in a pub, I led some of the less mobile members of the group on a shorter route to Nottingham Castle.
We then took the coach the few miles to Newstead Abbey, the home of Lord Byron. We were treated to a buffet lunch here, before being shown around the house and having some free time for a wander around the attractive gardens.
Before returning to the hotel, we were taken to the fascinating Green`s Mill at Sneinton.
On our way home on the Sunday, Anne and I made stops at Southwell and Bingham.
It`s always nice to take part in these weekends. Not only does one see interesting things, there are also lots of useful networking opportunities.
