Ding Dong Merrily at the Regency
I gave my "Ding Dong Merrily on High" talk recently in my capacity as an after dinner speaker.
I give talks on a variety of subjects throughout the year, but of course the ones devoted to Christmas subjects are very popular in the last few weeks of the year.
I gave the talk for the 41 Club of Leicester De Montfort Round Table, after an excellent meal (excellent as always) at the Regency Hotel in the Stoneygate area of the city.
As I walked in to the hotel, so Jools Holland walked out. He was giving a concert at De Montfort Hall.
"Ding Dong Merrily on High" looks at the background to everybody`s favourite Christmas carols, all of which have an interesting story behind them.
And whenever I give the talk, people are always surprised at how many of these much loved songs they actually know.
"Away in a Manger", "The First Noel", God Rest You Merry Gentlemen", "Good King Wenceslas", "In the Bleak Midwinter", "O Come All Ye Faithful", "O Little Town of Bethlehem", "Once in Royal David`s City", "Silent Night", "We Three Kings", "While Shepherds Watched". The list goes on and on.
If your group would like me to come and give this talk, do feel free to get in touch.
