Did You Miss the Boston Trip?
Well, if you did miss my Coach Trip to Boston, you missed one that was universally enjoyed by everyone who took part.
As always, we left St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester in the morning, and made our way up the old Fosse Way, branching off to cross the River Trent and make our coffee stop at Southwell Minster.
After being refreshed, and in most cases having a quick look at the minster, we continued into Lincolnshire, stopping for a few minutes at Heckington, to admire the splendid windmill.
Then it was on to Boston. As always, I led a Guided Walk around this very fine market town, pointing out lots of places of interest, including of course St. Botolph`s Church (the famous Boston Stump), but also the Guildhall, with its Pilgrim Fathers connections, the Blackfriars and the waterfront along the River Witham.
Quite a few of the party investigated the market afterwards, it being market day.
On the way back, we made a detour to see another excellent windmill, the Maud Foster Mill, which is just too far away from the town centre to be included on the walk.
Our stop on the way home was the Farm Stop at Fleet Hargate, always a good bet when returning from the East.
And then, of course, we made our way back to Leicester.
My Visitors` Book attracted some pretty positive comments, such as "a very enjoyable day in Boston - thanks Colin", "one of the best yet!", "our first time with Colin, a lovely day, very enjoyable, will certainly come again", "my first day too! I have really enjoyed it, I learned a lot more about Boston and I have booked two more trips as it is such a good way to visit more of the country" and "very interesting guided tour of a very pleasant place, and a very good choice of early and late refreshment stops".
So there!
Trips coming up, which you might not wish to miss, include Essex Woodlands Tour; Shrewsbury; and Wells.
