Aussie Murray Speaks at Grace Road
A recent meeting of the Leicestershire Cricket Society featured a talk by a celebrated Australian cricket writer.
I attended the meeting, of course. I very rarely miss one, it being a very good way of keeping in touch with cricketing matters during the close season.
Murray Hedgcock began writing about cricket in Australia, but now works for The Times in London.
His fascinating talk largely centred on Australian cricketing greats, on the revolution precipitated by Kerry Packer, and on his country`s long rivalry with England in the Ashes series.
Interestingly, he described a catch by the Essex and England wicketkeeper James Foster as the finest he had ever seen.
Leicestershire Cricket Society meetings are held at Grace Road.
