Treasurer`s House (York)
The Treasurer`s House is one of the many picturesque buildings in the ancient cathedral city of York.
It stands in the shadow of York Minster.
The Treasurerer`s House was originally built around 1100 for the Minster`s treasurer, but after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1547 the post ceased to exist.
The present building dates mostly from the 17th and 18th centuries, but was allowed to decay, before being rescued in 1899 and stocked with beautiful furniture and decorations.
It is now in the care of the National Trust.
