The King`s Manor (York)
The King`s Manor is a historic group of houses in York.
It is situated behind Museum Street.
The houses were the abbot`s lodgings attached to the wealthy Benedictine St. Marys Abbey. At the Dissolution of the Monasteries, they were seized by the Crown and became the headquarters of the Council of the North. It was here that kings stayed when they visited the city.
Today the King`s Manor houses York University.
