National Railway Museum (York)

The National Railway Museum is one of the many attractions in the outstanding cathedral city of York.

It is in Leeman Road, close to York Station.

The Museum is an exciting evocation of the life and history of railways, with a unique collection of engines, trains, paintings and photographs.

The golden age of rail travel is recreated with sights and sounds evoking the busy and exciting atmosphere of another era.

The Rocket, the Mallard and Queen Victoria's luxurious Royal carriage can all be admired, and so can a mock-up of the Channel Tunnel and Eurostar.

George Hudson, the Railway King, was a York man.
