Sudeley Castle (Winchcombe)
Sudeley Castle is a Tudor palace on the edge of Winchcombe in Gloucestershire.
The estate extends back to the Anglo-Saxon period, when its owners were the Sudeley family.
The castle passed to the Crown during the Wars of the Roses, and was acquired by Thomas Seymour, the brother of Henry VIII`s third wife, Jane Seymour.
After proposing to Elizabeth I, he married Henry`s widow Catherine Parr, and proceeded to rebuild the castle.
Among those involved in 19th century rebuilding were Gilbert Scott and William Morris.
