Mersea Island Museum (West Mersea)
Mersea Island Museum is an interesting attraction at West Mersea in Essex.
It is situated in the High Street.
The museum was opened in 1976, and specialises in maritime aspects of Mersea Island and its people.
There is a fisherman`s cottage, and displays relating to wildfowling and the local form of fishing known as stowboating.
Also on display is a punt, made locally in 1919, with its built-in cannon-like gun.
