St. Nicholas` Church (Wells-next-the-Sea)
St. Nicholas` Church is the parish church of the Norfolk town of Wells-next-the-Sea.
Like many other coastal towns, the church is in the original settlement, some way inland.
It dates originally from the mediaeval period, but was almost completely destroyed by fire when struck by lightning in 1879, and subsequently faithfully rebuilt.
There is a mediaeval brass lectern, which was dug up in a field nearby named Church Marsh.
John Fryer, who was cast adrift from the Bounty with Captain Bligh, is buried in the churchyard.
