Wilkin and Sons Ltd (Tiptree)
Wilkin and Sons Ltd is a jam factory and visitor attraction at Tiptree in Essex.
Arthur C. Wilkin, a local farmer, capitalised on the local fruit fields to set up Wilkins Tiptree Preserves in 1885.
Tiptree Jam is now probably the most famous and prestigious jam in the country, if not the world. As well as the obvious varieties, they also produce the lovely Little Scarlet, said by Ian Flaming to be the personal choice of James Bond 007.
There is a traditional tea room, which of course features the company`s own preserves, and a shop.
The museum on the premises gives an idea of the company`s history.
