St. Mary`s Church (Thirsk)

St. Mary`s Church is the parish church of the pleasant Yorkshire market town of Thirsk.

A short walk away from the town centre, it has a massive West tower and is a rebuild of about 1430 of an earlier church.

There is an original 15th century door and a splendid clerestory.

G. E. Street carried out a restoration in 1876.

Beneath St. Mary`s is a crypt, now occupied by a tea shop.
