Somerset County Museum (Taunton)
Somerset County Museum is the museum covering the county of Somerset, and situated in Taunton.
It is housed in the partly 12th century Taunton Castle, on Castle Green.
The Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society was formed in Taunton in 1849, and bought the castle in 1873 as a home for its collections.
Many of the archaeological finds were made, however, in the 20th century.
An unusual collection is that of Miss Primrose Peacock, of 19th and 20th century buttons.
