Halls Croft (Stratford-upon-Avon)
Hall's Croft is one of several houses in the Warwickshire market town of Stratford-upon-Avon associated with the family of William Shakespeare.
It can be found just outside the present town centre, in Old Town close to Holy Trinity Church, where Shakespeare is buried.
It was the home of Shakespeare's daughter Susanna and her husband, the eminent Dr. John Hall, before they moved to New Place on the great dramatist's death.
Hall's Croft is a beautiful timber framed house, and is open to the public.
One of the rooms is fitted out as an Elizabethan surgery, and has fascinating exhibits showing the state of medical practice in the 16th century. There is a fine collection of Tudor furniture and paintings.
The house and its walled garden were acquired in 1949 by the Birthplace Trust.
