Gower Memorial Statue (Stratford-upon-Avon)

The Gower Memorial Statue is a prominent piece of artwork in the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon.

It is situated close to the River Avon and overlooking the canal basin, commanding the approach to the town over Clopton Bridge.

The statue is of William Shakespeare, and was a gift to the town in 1888 from its sculptor Lord Ronald Gower, who had spent twelve years in its design and creation.

Around the statue of Shakespeare are figures of Falstaff, Lady Macbeth, Prince Hal and Hamlet.
