Gladstone Pottery Museum (Stoke-on-Trent)
The Gladstone Pottery Museum is an interesting museum in Stoke-on-Trent.
It is situated in Uttoxeter Road in Longton.
The site consists of five giant bottle ovens, survivors from the hundreds that existed in Stoke until the Clean Air Act of 1956. Also included are a cobbled yard and workshops. A group of local pottery manufacturers took over the site for use as a museum.
On display are, rather than the beautiful artifacts that can be seen elsewhere, utilitarian ceramics, including tableware, tiles and sanitary ware.
