D-Day Museum (Southsea)

The D-Day Museum is one of the many interesting attractions in the seaside resort of Southsea in Hampshire.

It is situated on Clarence Esplanade, close to Southsea Castle.

The museum covers the story of the greatest seaborne invasion force ever to leave Britain. D-Day was in 1944, during the Second World War, and was largely planned locally.

The Overlord Emboidery is on show in the museum. It is the 20th century equivalent of the Bayeux Tapestry, and tells the D-Day story using thirty four panels with a length of 272 feet.
