High Street (Saffron Walden)

The High Street is perhaps the most interesting street in the ancient and picturesque town of Saffron Walden in Essex.

It is quite separate from the Market Place, and indeed from St. Marys Church.

This wide street has a large number of listed buildings, and is largely Georgian in character in its Southern half.

Towards the North, however, the character changes, with a number of attractive timber framed hoses, among which are the jettied Cross Keys Inn and the Greyhound Inn, both dating from the 16th century.
