Holy Trinity Church (Rayleigh)
Holy Trinity is the impressive parish church of the South East Essex town of Rayleigh.
The church dates mostly from the 15th century, including the big West tower, made of Kentish ragstone, although the South doorway comes from the 13th century and the chancel is Norman.
There obviously was an earlier church on the site, and this is confirmed by the fact that Richard II gave permission for materials from the castle on Rayleigh Mount to be reused in the church.
Holy Trinity has a pretty brick porch
The upper and lower openings to the rood screen stairs can still clearly be seen.
