Tinside Lido (Plymouth)

Tinside Lido is an open air swimming pool at Plymouth.

It is situated below Plymouth Hoe, and protrudes into the sea, giving spectacular views into Plymouth Sound.

The architect was J. S. Wibberley, who was Plymouth`s Borough Engineer.

After attendances declined, the Lido was closed in 1992, but there was a major refurbishment and Grade II listing in 1998. This resulted in a reopening in 1998.

Originally there were three fountains. Two have been replicated, while a 33 foot high jet has replaced the hird.
