Hertford College (Oxford)
Hertford College is one of the colleges that make up the world famous Oxford University.
It is situated in Catte Street.
Hertford College was founded in the 18th century, but then refounded in 1874 by a member of the Baring banking family, on the site of Hart Hall.
The architect was T.G.Jackson, for whom the term "Anglo-Jackson" was coined.
The best known feature of Hertford College is the Bridge of Sighs, over New College Lane. It was erected in 1914, in order to enable undergraduates to reach the toilets.
