National Coal Mining Museum (Overton)
The National Coal Mining Museum for England is a place of considerable interest and a tourist attraction at Overton in Yorkshire.
It is situated in New Road.
The museum is based on two collieries, Caphouse and Hope, which are linked by a railway.
The complex dates back to the 18th century. There are major galleries covering social history, science and technology within mining.
Former miners lead underground tours, looking at and explaining authentic coal workings.
