High Level Bridge (Newcastle-upon-Tyne)
The High Level Bridge is one of the many fine bridges at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, linking the city with Gateshead on the other side of the River Tyne.
Grade 1 listed, it is a railway and road bridge constructed of ashlar and cast iron in 1849, and designed by Robert Stephenson.
By common consent, it is one of the finest pieces of architectural ironwork in the world.
