Nelson Museum and Local History Centre (Monmouth)

The Nelson Museum and Local History Centre is a fine collection at Monmouth in South Wales.

It is situated in the New Market Hall in Priory Street.

Many visitors express surprise that a museum devoted to Admiral Nelson should be in an inland town with no particular connection to Britain`s great naval hero.

It was Lady Llangattock, who lived at Monmouth, who collected Nelson memorabilia, and she eventually presented her collection to the town.

Among the exhibits are letters, commemorative ware and personal possessions, including his own sword.
