Captain Cook Birthplace Museum (Marton)

The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum is housed in the village of Marton, in what was once North Yorkshire but is now Cleveland, where the great mariner Captain James Cook was born.

Marton is now effectively a suburb of Middlesbrough, and the museum is situated in Stewart Park, a lovely country park which gives the people of Middlesbrough a most effective lung.

There are interactive displays, special effects and film as well as the more normal memorabilia, dealing with his life times, discoveries and adventures.

There is particular emphasis on his young life, before he became involved in maritime matters.
