St. Mary`s Church (Luton)
St. Mary`s is a large town church serving Luton in Bedfordshire.
The church is basically Perpendicular, with a chequerboard design made of stone and flint, 15th century on the tower and 19th century elsewhere.
The superb baptistry dates from the 14th century.
The tiny Barnard Chantry was constructed about 1490 and has a door, window, stone vault and piscina. With room for just one priest, it is probably the smallest chapel of its kind in England.
The Wenlock Chapel is much grander. It was built in 1461 by Lord John Wenlock, and has a double arched stone screen dividing it from the chancel.
