Broad Gate (Ludlow)
Broad Gate is one of the many historic buildings in the Welsh Marches town of Ludlow in Shropshire.
It is the only survivor of seven gateways in the Town Wall that existed in mediaeval times.
The wall surrounded this lovely old town, and there are still significant sections standing.
Broad Gate stands at the foot of Broad Street, described by Alec Clifton Taylor as one of the best streets in the country.
Beside the Broad Gate, but outside in Lower Broad Street, is the Wheatsheaf Inn, which was built in the town ditch.
Today, Broad Gate is lived in as a private house.
