St. Katharine`s Dock (London)
St. Katharine`s Dock, in the East End of London, is one of the two great examples in Britain of an early enclosed dock. The other is Albert Dock at Liverpool.
Opened in 1828, it was designed by Thomas Telford, with surrounding warehouses by Philip Hardwick.
Today, with the regeneration of the East End, the area is full of shops and bars, but in a wonderful setting, only a short walk from the Tower of London.
