Robert Nelson Monument (London)

The Robert Nelson Monument is a striking monument in London.

It is situated in St. George`s Gardens, Handel Street in the Camden area of North London.

The monument is to Robert Nelson, philanthropist and leading lay churchman, who died in 1715.

It is of Portland stone, with an urn on a tall plinth, within wrought iron railings.

Nelson was the first man to be buried in the new cemetery, after much aversion had been expressed to its use.
