19 Princelet Street (London)
19 Princelet Street is an interesting house in London.
It is situated of course in Princelet Street, in the Spitalfields area, and exemplifies the special character of this part of London, which has seen successive waves of immigrants.
The house is a Grade II* listed terrace house, built in 1719 by Samuel Worrall. It was adapted and extended, by the addition of a synagogue, by Mr Hudson in 1870, for the Loyal United Friends Friendly Society.
It now has the status of International Historic Site of Conscience.
In the upper portions there are associations with the Huguenot silk industry, and the rear extension is the best surviving example of a small scale Jewish prayer hall, once typical of Spitalfields.
