Llanfair PG Station (Llanfair PG)
Llanfair PG Station is a small railway station on the line that crosses Anglesey on the way to Holyhead.
It is much visited by people who don't particularly wish to visit the village of Llanfair PG itself.
The attraction is that the village, and therefore the station, has the longest name in the world.
The full name is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. This means "St. Mary's Church by the white aspen over the whirlpool and St. Tysilio's Church by the red cave".
The name sign on the station platform is of course very long, and helpfully underneath is a phonetic guide to how to pronounce it. It says "Llan - vire - pooll - guin - gill - go - ger - u - queern - drob - oll - llandusilio - gogo - goch".
Across the road, a shop sells copies of a CD with instructions on pronunciation in the "all together now sing along with me" style.
