Dock Wall (Liverpool)
The Dock Wall is an important part of the industrial heritage of Liverpool.
Its purpose was not to prevent access to the docks from the city itself, but to control access.
There are monumental gateways, which made the docks appear like a fortress. Also, there are interesting gate pier designs, firstly by Foster and later by Hartley.
