Linlithgow Palace (Linlithgow)

Linlihgow Palace is a very historic building at Linlithgow.

It is a very well preserved ruin and was mostly built in the 15th century, although it incorporates a tower built by Edward I, King of England, in 1302.

The palace was one of the favourite residences of the Stuart Kings of Scotland. James V was born here in 1512, and his daughter Mary Queen of Scots in 1542.

Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) stayed at the palace during his bid to regain the crowns of England and Scotland.

Linlithgow Palace is set in its own park, and beside Linlithgow Loch.

It is now in the care of Historic Scotland.
