Mediaeval Bishops` Palace (Lincoln)
The Mediaeval Bishops` Palace, now largely in ruins, stands close to Lincoln Cathedral in the ancient city of Lincoln.
It was built in the late 12th century, and was long considered one of the most important buildings in England.
The Palace was built on steep terraces on the steep hill on the top of which Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle stand.
Within the complex is the most Northerly exposed vineyard in Europe.
The Bishops` Palace is now in the care of English Heritage.
