Hartsholme Country Park (Lincoln)
Hartsholme Country Park is a country park at Lincoln.
The main entrance is in Skellingthorpe Road.
The park was formerly the grounds of Hartsholme Hall, built by Joseph Shuttleworth in 1862, but now demolished. The hall stood on the shores of Hartsholme Lake, which had been constructed by the Lincolnshire Waterworks in 1846. The gardens and park were laid out by Edward Milner.
During World War II, the hall was used as an officers` mess, while the estate was used for training by the military. The land was purchased by Lincoln Corporation in 1951. They demolished the hall and opened the park to the public.
It was designated a country park in 1974.
