The Shires (Leicester)

The Shires is a major indoor shopping centre in Leicester.
It runs behind the High Street, and also has an entrance in Church Gate. Much of it is where the Co-op department store used to stand.
The centre opened in 1991.
Among the businesses represented in The Shires are BBs; Boots; Debenhams; Early Learning Centre; The Link; McDonalds; Millies Cookies; Rackhams; Thorntons; Virgin; and Waterstones.
At present, there is much construction work going on. The floor space of the centre is to be doubled.
