St. Peters Church, Braunstone (Leicester)

St. Peters is the parish church of Braunstone, one of the old villages which is now swallowed up by the city of Leicester.

The others are Belgrave, Humberstone, Evington, Knighton and Aylestone.

It stands on a green in what was the old village, surrounded by council estates.

St. Peters is in essence a very old church, dating back to the 12th cenbtury. The West tower is Perpendicular, and has a pyramid top. Much of the church was restored in the late 19th century.

There is an octagonal font, and a Perpendicular screen.
