St. Mary Magdalene Church, Knighton (Leicester)
St. Mary Magdalene is the parish church of the old village of Knighton, which is now a suburb of Leicester.
It is situated in Church Lane, a pretty enclave with cottages, greenery and a brook.
St. Mary's is a mediaeval church, whose West tower, nave and chancel date from the 13th century, with roofs only a little later.
There is a Perpendicular statue of Mary Magdalene in a niche high up in the tower.
The 19th century pulpit contains carved fragments from a mediaeval one.
