Judges` Lodgings (Lancaster)
The Judges` Lodgings are an elegant house in Lancaster, now used as a museum.
It is situated in Church Street.
The house was built in the 17th century, and stands at the top of a flight of steps, with Lancaster Castle behind, and beside the original Gillow furniture works. There is a splendid view of the Ashton Memorial on the hill the other side of the city.
Among the museum exhibits are a number of examples of Gillow`s famous furniture. There is a billiard room, Gillow`s having been the first major manufacturer of billiard tables.
