Red Mount Chapel (Kings Lynn)
The Red Mount Chapel is an interesting feature of the historic old maritime town of Kings Lynn in Norfolk.
It can be found in The Walks, a pleasant park, near a surviving section of the mediaeval Town Walls.
The chapel was built in 1485. Its proper name was the Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount, and it was used by pilgrims travelling to Walsingham. It contained a relic of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Its shape is octagonal, and it is made of red brick. The actual chapel on the upper floor has a fine fan vaulted ceiling.
