Great White Horse Hotel (Ipswich)
The Great White Horse Hotel is a historic building the centre of Ipswich.
It is situated in Tavern Street, on the corner of Northgate Street.
The hotel has a Georgian facade, although it actually dates back to the early 16th century.
Charles Dickens conceived the idea of "The Pickwick Papers" while staying at the Great White Horse. In the novel, Samuel Pickwick is discovered entering the bedroom of Miss Witherfield, a young lady who is already engaged.
