Duncombe Park (Helmsley)

Duncombe Park is an imposing house at Helmsley in Yorkshire.

It was built on a plateau overlooking a river valley for Sir Charles Duncombe by Sir John Vanbrugh in the late 17th century, and superseded the Norman Helmsley Castle.

The house is surrounded by 35 acres of 18th century landscaped gardens and 400 acres of parkland, containing a national nature reserve and ancient trees.
