St. Nicholas` Church (Harwich)

St. Nicholas` Church is the parish church of the ancient port of Harwich in Essex.

It is situated in Church Street, and replaced an earlier building.

St. Nicholas` was built by M. G. Thompson in 1821.

It is of yellow brick, and has a tall West tower surmounted by a spire. This was designed to be visible from far out at sea.

The font is octagonal, of Purbeck marble, and dates from the early 13th century.

There is a painting by William Paris dated 1700, of "Moses Giving the Law".
