Royal Naval College (Greenwich)
The Royal Naval College is one of the superb buildings at Greenwich in Greater London.
Mary II decided in 1692 to create a hospital for retired seamen, and to house it in the King`s House.
In 1694, it was decided to create a new building for the hospital, and it was duly built by Sir Christopher Wren and Nicholas Hawksmoor.
The hospital closed in 1873, and the building became the Royal Naval College.
The Painted Hall has an enormous ceiling painting by Sir James Thornhill.
