Charlton House (Greenwich)

Charlton House is a historic house in London.

It is situated in Charlton Road, in the Charlton district of South East London.

Charlton House is an E-plan Jacobean house, built for Sir Adam Newton, tutor to James I`s son Henry, the Prince of Wales, between 1607 and 1612.

It was long thought to be the work of Inigo Jones, but this is unlikely to be true.

The house is now owned by Greenwich Council, who use it as a library, meeting rooms and municipal offices.
