Gosfield Hall (Gosfield)
Gosfield Hall is a grand house at Gosfield in Essex.
It stands on a slope overlooking a mile long lake.
The hall was begun in the 16th century by Sir John Wentworth, and his Long Gallery survives over the entrance. The West Front is also from the Tudor period.
There were additions made in 1715, and then in the 19th century by the textile magnate Sir Samuel Courtauld.
Among those who have lived here are Louis XVIII of France, and Sir Adrian Boult.
