Abbot`s Kitchen (Glastonbury)

The Abbot`s Kitchen is a historic building at Glastonbury.

Part of the Glastonbury Abbey complex, it somehow managed to escape destruction at the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century, being probably used as a barn, instead of as a quarry, as was more normal.

The Abbot`s Kitchen dates from the 14th century. It is square in shape, and at each corner was a fireplace.

It is a beautiful example of mediaeval architecture.
